The pod couple re-visited

By Catherine Lee, 15 August 2012 – 0 comment

This week I decided to re-visit the pod couple, looking to Jamie Oliver for some inspiration.  He did not fail.  Smashed Peas & Broad Beans on Toast tasted like summer, fresh and alive.  If you decide to try it I would recommend making extra paste, then using it with pasta or spread over white fish; it’s really delicious.  So, whilst I was delving through Jamie’s recipes I came across Baked New Potatoes with Sea Salt & Rosemary.  I’m sure most people don’t need advice or inspiration when it comes to potatoes, but this is a lovely one to do, especially if you have a barbeque to add some smoky flavour.

I’ve tried numerous ways to prepare the chard during this season and last, but I think I’ve found my favourite this week, Chard with Pine Nuts & Pan Roasted Garlic.  It was posted on the Food Network website, one that I’ll be visiting again for ideas.

And finally, thinking I had once again failed in my quest to incorporate all the contents of the cropshare bag into my weekly recipes (an unnecessary goal I set myself), an old recipe for Tomato & Parsley Sauce (which is lovely served with white fish) brought me as close to the finish line as someone with my training, ability and funding can get.  So, it remains only for me to say, “slice the cucumber and add to your salad!”
