How We Grow
We've developed a unique process for empowering teams of volunteers to manage the complexities of running an organic growing business. Not only do they run the business, but the process supports wellbeing and mental health recovery at the same time.
Key to this is the staff role of our Growing Co-ordinator. Our Growing Co-ordinator produces our annual crop plans; seed-sowing lists, planting plans and harvesting forecasts. On a weekly basis the Co-ordinator produces a work-plan that volunteer teams follow each day as well as using our purpose built sales system to produce detailed picking and packing lists.
We train those members of our team who wish to, to take on different positions within the enterprise; managing small teams, supervising picking or packing of orders, or supervising the entire activity on site. We put a lot of time into training members of our team and in supervising volunteers well.
It all pays off when the crop is harvested - over a ton of produce per week in the height of the season.
