Our Crop Share Scheme
Our Crop Share is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) scheme, whereby local people make an annual commitment to our crop and in return get a weekly bag of fresh, farm-grown vegetables.
Growing Well's Crop Share is an opportunity for you to eat fresh Cumbrian vegetables throughout the season as well as support our other charitable activities by your commitment to us. It began from our desire to root the growing and selling of our produce in the local community. The development of the scheme has been supported by the Local Food fund of the Big Lottery.
We’re keen to encourage shareholders to get involved in our work. You’ll receive a weekly update on what will be ready for the following week and monthly newsletters provide added insight into our site on the farm. You’ll be invited to come and share, learn and grow on occasional workdays and to seasonal special events.
Want to become a Crop Shareholder?
We are currently recruiting Crop Shareholders for 2013/4 (due to launch in June 2013). We expect to have around 25 further shares available. Sign up to express your interest and we'll be in touch as soon as a place becomes available.
You are able to buy a weekly share for £8.50pw: approximately for 1 to 3 adults/kids, or - if you are a bigger household, please feel free to order more than one share.
When you sign up for the crop share, you will complete your card payment details and the first payment (the deposit payment of £5) will come out of your account within days. By doing this you give permission for us to take a monthly amount from the card details you provide us with. Alternatively at the beginning of the crop share year you can pay the full amount for the annual share. Contact us if you wish to pay the full amount.
Picking up from the farm
You'll need to pick up your weekly share from Growing Well's packing area (in the same parking area as the Low Sizergh Barn shop, just off the dual carriageway out of Kendal towards the M6). Shares are ready from 4pm on a Thursday but you can collect anytime - early morning to early evening - in the following 5 days. We encourage shareholders to pick up each other's shares to minimise journeys. We issue a list of "local coordinators" (with your handbook) who assist with this.
