Our Cropshare Scheme
Our Cropshare is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) scheme, whereby local people make an annual commitment to our crop and in return get a weekly bag of fresh, farm-grown vegetables.
Growing Well's Cropshare is an opportunity for you to eat fresh Cumbrian vegetables throughout the season as well as support our other charitable activities by your commitment to us. It began from our desire to root the growing and selling of our produce in the local community. The development of the scheme has been supported by the Local Food fund of the Big Lottery.
We’re keen to encourage shareholders to get involved in our work. You’ll receive a weekly update on what will be ready for the following week and monthly newsletters provide added insight into our site on the farm. You’ll be invited to come and share, learn and grow on occasional workdays and to seasonal special events.
Want to become a Cropshare member?
Sign up right away to be sure of having a share when we re-launch in June/July 2012. You will be asked to pay a small deposit which will be taken off the cost of your Share and we will keep you in touch with our plans as they progress to the re-launch date.
Choice of share size
You are able to buy either a weekly share (£7.50pw: approximately for 1 to 3 adults/kids) or a double share (£15pw: approximately for a family of 3 to 5).
Payment
When you sign up for the crop share the first payment will come out of your account within days and you give permission for us to take a monthly amount from the card details you provide us with. Alternatively at the beginning of the crop share year you can pay the full amount for the annual share (10 months).
Picking up from the farm
You'll need to pick up your weekly share from Growing Well's packing area (in the same parking area as the Low Sizergh Barn shop, just off the dual carriageway out of Kendal towards the M6). Shares are ready from 4pm on a Thursday but you can collect anytime - early morning to early evening - in the following 5 days. We encourage shareholders to pick up each other's shares to minimise journeys. We issue a list of "local coordinators" (with your handbook) who assist with this.
