May is fast passing us by but there is still plenty of time of learn more about how to grow things to eat, produce more plants for free and find out about those 'good and bad' bugs in the garden, on our one day programme of courses which continue through to October.
The youngsters on the Level 1 Practical Horticulture Skills course are making a difference to how tidy our site looks. Having learnt how to use the mower and trim the edges of the herb beds by the education marquee "Can I mow first" is what I am greeted with on a Thursday morning. Nobody seems quite so keen to do the weeding!
The students also planned and created a mixed border for Natland Pre-School in the space behind the village hall, the group worked really hard to prepare and plant the bed and create a bark path through the planting so the children can use it as part of their playground.
We are currently starting to plan for courses starting in September, so if you have Horticultural subjects you would like to find out about please let me know, I am happy to consider people's ideas and suggestions.
