On Sunday 12th June Growing Well and Low Sizergh Farm opened its gates to the public for the day as part of this national farm event. Low Sizergh celebrated 20 years in business at the farm and Growing Well who came onto the farm 7 years ago joined in the celebrations. The early morning sun brought visitors to the farm where they could take a circular walk through the vegetable fields of Growing Well, along the ancient hedgerow and through the Growing Well site where activities had been planned for adults,children and their families. James shared his wealth of knowledge on how to grow organic vegetables in Cumbria! South Lakes Orchard Group gave a short talk and demonstration about apples, George Grange from the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal ran a 'drop in' art workshop with ideas inspired by bee and insect pollination. Children and adults passing through the site could also enjoy seed sowing and planting herb pots with Hazel and our volunteers.
