Vocational Courses
We have many year's successful experience delivering vocational courses in horticulture, for anyone in our local community to attend.
We are enrolling now for courses beginning in Spring 2013. Course information can be found at the bottom of the page.
At Growing Well we offer diploma courses in Work-Based Horticulture at levels one, two and three. Course enrolment is open to anyone in our local community. These courses give participants a thorough grounding in a wide range of horticulture skills and knowledge, with an emphasis on organic vegetable growing. Each course normally takes three terms for completion, studying one day per week, except for the level three course which requires monthly attendance for one day over the course of a year.
Courses tend to begin at the start of the September school term, or sometimes in the Spring (soon after Easter) and the current cost for enrolment can be found on the course sheets below. Currently all those on means-tested benefits can attend the course free of charge.
We also offer a level 1 qualification in Practical Horticulture skills aimed at candidates who have an interest in Horticulture and would like to learn basic horticultural skills along with the knowledge relevant to these skills. A taster day with an informal assessment will be required prior to entry on to the course. The course is very practical and students should be willing and able to work outside in all weathers and get their hands dirty!
We are also very happy to arrange stand-alone courses for schools and community groups.
Please get in touch with Hazel Sharples, Training Coordinator, if you require any information about our training provision.
