Volunteer

Have you got time to be regularly involved with the farm? Take a look at the volunteer opportunities listed below and get in touch if you would like to be involved.

Mental Health Recovery Placement
Hours: A regular weekly commitment of at least half a day per week

Members of our volunteer team run the horticultural and admin activities of our organic growing business. Working in small teams participants build up their skills and confidence in a friendly working environment. Volunteers work alongside our experienced and enthusiastic staff and we provide team members with all the training they require. If you are interested in joining us as part of your recovery please get in touch to arrange an initial visit.

Member of Growing Well's Board of Directors
Hours: One evening meeting per month plus at least one hour per month contact with Growing Well staff

Our Board of Directors manages the strategic development of Growing Well. There are twelve members of our Board who are all members of Growing Well. Growing Well seeks nominations for vacant places on our Board annually, prior to our AGM in May or June. If you are interested in Board membership please contact the Manager of Growing Well for an informal conversation about the role. Interested nominees can attend a Board meeting to get a feel for the way in which the organisation runs.

Horticultural Volunteer
Hours: A regular weekly commitment of at least half a day per week

We have a number of opportunities for volunteers to work within our horticulture and growing activities on the farm. Applicants must undertake a Criminal Records Bureau check prior to starting with us. Full induction is provided and on-going training is available alongside the wider team of volunteers. Please contact Growing Well's Volunteer Co-ordinator for more details.

Educational Visit Facilitator
Hours: Variable but approximately one day per week during term times from Easter to November

Support class visits to Growing Well and Low Sizergh Farm. Work alongside our staff, preparing activities and leading groups of 15 to 20 children around a variety of food-based experiences.
