Wellbeing
Growing Well's core aim is to offer opportunities for people recovering from mental health problems to build their confidence and skills. Our team members get involved in a wide range of tasks within our farm-based enterprise.
Participants volunteer their time within three different teams at the farm; the Horticulture Team, the Admin Team and the Education Team. Our working day is from 9.30am to 4pm and many volunteers work with us for more than one day per week.
Our volunteers travel from all over South Cumbria and North Lancashire to be with us. We are easily accessible by public transport, and getting up and getting to the farm are important aspects of building new confidence and skills.
Our volunteers' placements are usually funded by organisations such as Social Services or the NHS and the co-ordination of these placements is supported with a grant from Ecominds, a Big Lottery fund.
