The therapeutic community meets every Friday on site at Growing Well.
This service is for people who have challenges in managing their emotions and their relationships and, differently to our Monday-Thursday service, combines both talking and vocational therapy.
The therapeutic community combines a mixture of practical activities, group therapy and managing how the community operates. By collectively negotiating these tasks together, community members learn more about themselves, their relationships with others, and they build up their resilience for managing the complexities of life.
The project was initially funded by the Northern Rock Foundation and Cumbria’s NHS Clinical Commissioning Group. The success of the project in its first year led to our Clinical Commissioning Group fully funding the work during 2015.
The members and staff of the community are very proud of what they’ve achieved so far; creating a new kind of mental health service for people in south Cumbria. If you would like to be part of this group, please get in touch.
