Stir Fried Turnip Tops

Ah, that well known vegetable, the turnip top.  We’re pretty retro with our veggies here at Growing Well, as we hate to see really good tasting bits of plants go to waste.  I always feel very akin to the generation of men in the 1930’s who were out of work and turned to their allotments for salvation – you wouldn’t see them turning their noses at the humble turnip top (though they probably wouldn’t have been cooking it with smoked paprika at a guess).

500g shredded turnip tops

1 clove garlic minced finely

1 tbsp oil

pinch of chilli

pinch of smoked paprika

salt and pepper

pinch of sugar

 

Heat the oil in a large frying pan. Add the garlic and fry gently for 1 minute.

Add the turnip tops and the rest of the ingredients, and fry for a couple of minutes until wilted.  Check the seasoning and serve.
