Portrait of Growing Well
October 2019

This 8-minute film from the BBC North East and Cumbria ‘Inside Out’ regional documentary series, now sadly no more, was made by reporter/filmmaker Ed Hanson, who spent several days with us 2019, getting to know our Volunteers and staff, and gaining the trust to make an intimate and uplifting film that remains one of the best introductions to Growing Well – what we do, how we do it, and how we can change people’s lives.

Plan for Growing Well at Tebay Services revealed
June 2022

ITV Border’s Lake District reporter Fiona Marley-Paterson has visited Growing Well a number of times and always produces wonderful reports on our work and beautiful images of our site and produce. It’s a big deal for a Volunteer to feel able to be interviewed on camera and speak about their mental health, but Fiona always puts our Volunteers at ease and shows great understanding and empathy. Thank you to former Growing Well Kendal Volunteer Mandy for speaking so well about how Growing Well helped her.

2019 Crowdfunder campaign video

In 2019 we faced a budget shortfall and launched our first Crowdfunder appeal with this campaign video. The appeal was a great success – we smashed our £25,000 target and our £35,000 stretch target and gained a lot of substantial additional and long-term support from local businesses. Lots of the faces have changed now – but the magic formula of Growing Well remains the same.
