Getting here

The following directions will help you find us at Growing Well Low Sizergh, near Kendal, Growing Well Tebay Services and Growing Well West Cumbria.

The postcode for SatNav is LA8 8AE but this will not always take you the best route if you are coming from the south or east on the A590 or A591 as you have to get to the opposite side of the dual carriageway.

From the M6 north or M6 south:

  • Leave the M6 at junction 36 and follow the A591, signed Barrow, Kendal and Windermere.
  • After 4 miles at Brettargh Holt roundabout, leave the dual carriageway, taking the A590 signed Barrow.
  • You will be taking the first exit at the roundabout but stay in the RIGHT hand lane of the exit road.
  • Take the first exit at the roundabout, staying in the right hand lane as you will make a right turn across this dual carriageway within less than 100 yards.
  • After less than 100 yards turn right into the central island to carefully cross the oncoming traffic to take the road signposted to Sizergh Castle
  • Follow the road past the Strickland Arms and, with the entrance to Sizergh Castle straight ahead, turn right at the sign to Low Sizergh Barn and Growing Well and continue under the dual carriageway.
  • Straight after the underpass, take a sharp left signposted Low Sizergh Barn and slowly follow the narrow farm road into the farm courtyard.

From the A591/A6 Windermere and Kendal:

  • Take or join the A591 heading south towards the M6.
  • You will pass 2 filling stations (one on either side of the dual carriageway) just south of Kendal. Approx 1 mile ahead you will see a sign to Low Sizergh Barn and then a short exit lane with entrance to the farm courtyard. Warning: indicate and slow down early as the exit lane is short and traffic also exits here to join the carriageway.

From the A590 Barrow:

  • Just before the A590/A591 Brettargh Holt roundabout take a left hand turn signposted Sizergh Castle.

From the A6 south:

  • Follow the A6 past Levens Hall, bear left, then turn right, signposted A590/A591 Kendal, and merge right at the top of the slip road to join the A590.
  • After 1/4 mile, just before the A590/A591 Brettargh Holt roundabout, take a left hand turn signposted Sizergh Castle.

Once you arrive…

Once you get to Low Sizergh Barn Farm Shop and Café it is a short walk along a signposted path to Growing Well and Farm Trail, between the main car park and a small caravan park. You will see our polytunnels a few hundred yards in the distance.

Bear left at the bottom of this path and follow it round, through a gate, then right into Growing Well. Go past the yurts on the left and bear left towards our steel container offices. Our Main Office is on the right.

We are located off the M6 at Tebay Services Northbound, on the southern side
of the Caravan Park.

Travelling South

Drive past Tebay Services Southbound and exit the M6 at junction 38. Keep in the right-hand lane to travel right around the roundabout in Tebay village and follow the signs to rejoin the M6 northbound. Shortly afterwards, leave the M6 at Tebay Services.
