ScottishPower Foundation have supported our new tree nursery at Growing Well’s site at Tebay Services, an initiative we launched in the summer to help address a significant undersupply of native tree species for conservation and re-wilding projects across the UK, while supporting individuals living with severe mental health challenges.
Ed Tallis, Head of Business Development at Growing Well: “We’re incredibly proud to be shortlisted in the Charity Champion category at the Scottish Power Foundation Awards.
“This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our team, and especially to Paul, whose vision and leadership have been instrumental in launching our new tree nursery at Tebay.
“With the support of the Foundation, this initiative is helping to restore native woodland across the UK while providing therapeutic opportunities for individuals facing mental health challenges. We’re honoured to be part of such an inspiring group of charities.”
Since 2013, the ScottishPower Foundation has awarded over £15million in grants to charitable initiatives across the UK.
Melanie Hill, Executive Officer and Trustee at the ScottishPower Foundation, said: “In a time of continued challenges and uncertainty across the third sector, the resilience and unwavering commitment of the projects supported by the ScottishPower Foundation has been truly inspiring.
“Despite facing significant challenges, these remarkable charities have continued to thrive, making a profound and lasting impact on the communities they serve.
“Across all four award categories, these organisations have worked tirelessly to make our planet and our communities a better place. Whether this is through social efforts and community engagement to innovative ways to help our planet and educating the next generation, each nominee has truly excelled.
The shortlist was selected by a judging panel consisting of media professionals, industry and third sector specialists including Graeme Gourlay (Editor and Publisher of Geographical), Lianne Williams (Director of Enable Communities), Andrew Ward (CEO of ScottishPower’s Customer Business), and Louise Smith (Trustee of the ScottishPower Foundation).
